Today, Zoom Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZM) ushered in a new era of collaboration and productivity with the debut of AI Companion 3.0, introduced at its annual flagship conference, Zoomtopia 2025. This release extends Zoom’s vision of intelligent, agentic AI-first capabilities, bringing powerful innovations to Zoom Workplace and Zoom Business Services. Designed as a personalized partner for modern work, AI Companion 3.0 transforms conversations into actionable outcomes, enabling users to operate at their peak across multiple platforms.
“Every day, customers rely on Zoom for their most meaningful conversations,” said Eric S. Yuan, founder and CEO of Zoom. “AI Companion 3.0 builds on that trust by turning discussions into insights that help people focus on their goals, sharpen priorities, and deliver measurable results.”
AI Companion 3.0 is more than a virtual assistant. Acting as an intelligent layer across Zoom and compatible third-party tools, it helps users extract value from meetings, calls, chats, and shared documents. Through its agentic AI, it retrieves enterprise knowledge and integrates external research to deliver insights in real time. Enhanced note-taking features extend beyond Zoom, covering in-person and third-party platforms like Microsoft Teams and Google Meet.
To optimize daily workflows, proactive skills such as “free up my time,” in-meeting recommendations, and preparation aids ensure busywork is minimized. Outcome-based prompts guide users toward completing tasks seamlessly across all Zoom surfaces. As a collaboration partner, AI Companion also adapts dynamically, offering context-rich suggestions for writing, research, and project execution.
The innovations extend to the platform itself. Zoom has introduced a new AI work surface in browsers and desktop apps, providing a coherent hub that adapts to user activity. Advanced AI-powered features also include lifelike meeting avatars, automatic clip generation, and Model Context Protocol support, empowering developers and enterprises alike. Real-time translation is another highlight, with independent evaluations confirming Zoom’s solution surpasses competitors by significant accuracy margins.
Customization is a cornerstone of the update. With the Custom AI Companion add-on—priced at $12 per user, per month—organizations can create tailored AI agents through a low-code builder and deploy them at scale. Admins can also leverage pre-built third-party agents and the Agent2Agent protocol to streamline workflows across applications. General availability of AI Companion 3.0 will begin in November 2025 for all paid Zoom Workplace accounts at no extra cost.
Zoom Business Services also benefit, with AI-driven enhancements for sales, support, and customer experience. New CX tools like Expert Assist and Automated Quality Management raise service standards, while the Zoom Revenue Accelerator brings agentic prospecting and outreach into the sales cycle. These combined advances reinforce Zoom’s position as a leader in intelligent enterprise collaboration.
