Toshiba Surprises with New Portégé Z30-E

Toshiba has been practically non-existent in Malaysia as a laptop brand over the past few year, so it was it some surprise that we suddenly received notification of the Portégé Z30-E (albeit from Singapore). Apparently aimed at the business segment, this new 13.3-inch device weighs in at a mere 1.2kg.

“The Portégé Z30-E was developed with keeping business moving in mind, from employees in small to mid-size organisations, to large corporate environments – regardless of their location,” said Wong Wai Meng, Senior Manager of Product Strategy at Toshiba Singapore Pte Ltd, Mobile Computing Solutions & Devices Division.

The light weight of the Portégé Z30-E is attributed to a robust magnesium chassis and offers a range of options in processing power, up to and including new 8th Gen Intel chips. Even better is the included SSD for faster speed and agility.

The laptop also has three USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI port as well as Gigabit LAN interface, although the newer USB-C interface seems to be missing.

Because it’s for business use, Toshiba has included a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) to help keep critical data safe on local storage. For greater peace of mind, users can opt for an optional Smartcard and SecurePad with fingerprint reader.

Easy access for corporate IT departments is available through Intel Active Management Technology (AMT).

According to Toshiba, the Portégé Z30-E will be available from Q3 2018, although that is vague as to whether it means in the Malaysia or Singapore market.
