Illegear has become among the first in the market to announce the updates to their product line-up that will see the inclusion of Nvidia RTX graphics. The Illegear Selenite and Illegear ONYX will be equipped with GeForce RTX 2070 and RTX 2060 graphics.
Both the updated 17.3-inch bezel-less Selenite and the new 15.6-inch bezel-less ONXY will be available in two options; either the Nvidia RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 (Max-P) or Nvidia RTX 2070 8GB GDDR6 (Max-P). At CES 2019 currently being held in Las Vegas, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang claimed that RTX graphics will redefine gaming, as he showcased a notebook running a demo of Battlefield V.
Both devices also mount 144Hz IPS displays to fully show off what the RTX can do. Nvidia’s new RTX cards are based on the Turing architecture which the company claims will be able to run ray-traced games at 60 fps.
The Max-P version of the cards that are included are top-of-the-line and supposedly offer a 10% edge in performance over their Max-Q brethren. That is on top of the already significant performance improvements that RTX cards offer in general from their predecessors, the GTX10-series of cards.
To accompany the improved graphics setup will be an updated Command Centre, although at this point of time no further information is available on the update.
According to Illegear, pricing information will have to wait, however, due to an Nvidia embargo which will be lifting at the end of this month. Between now and then we are expecting a slew of announcement from all vendors for updates to their product lines as well for the inclusion of RTX graphics.
