Illegear has again come to the fore with their latest gaming laptops – Prodigy and Rogue. The good versus bad analogy isn’t lost on us and may be a bit cheesy, but both of the spiffy devices are built for gaming. Despite much skepticism about its H-suffix processors, the Intel i7-9750H is still a six-core 4.5GHz monster and is designed to shine, especially paired with a GTX 1660 TI.
We’re recently run a roundup on some of the best GTX 1660 TI cards and they are currently on our favorite list given the excellent price-performance they come in at for mainstream gaming. To sweeten the pot even more for gamers, both the Illegear Prodigy and Rogue come with narrow-bezel displays for that great visual experience. Oh, at 144Hz frequencies, of course.
That slim bezel provides more than just a great gaming experience though since it also lets Illegear cut down the size of these laptops. What would have been a 15.6” form factor for the Prodigy is trimmed down to a svelte 13.3” appearance, while the hefty original bulk of a 17.3″ form factor is transformed into sleek 15.6″ appearance on the Rogue.
Mobile Gaming on the NVIDIA GTX 1660 TI
While the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 TI may be one of the entry-level Turing-based cards we have tested it out and it runs smoothly with almost anything you can throw at it – for a fraction of the price of most RTX cards. its low TGP of 80 Watts makes it great for performance-per-watt on laptops as well.
On the side, there is expansion possibility as well since both models come with dual M.2 PCIe slots and an extra 2.5″ storage drive bay. Illegear is currently offering these base models for the Prodigy and Rogue as follows;
Prodigy – i7-9750H, GTX 1660Ti 6GB GDDR6, 15.6” FHD IPS 144Hz Bezel-less, 8GB 2666MHz DDR4, 512GB NVMe SSD, Intel 9560 2×2 M.2 AC, 4-zone RGB membrane keyboard – RM5,199
