Catch underwater drone footage in 4k UHD

Geeks around the world have been going nuts over drones and more than a few have made it into various industry segments. Drones today are employed in many areas such as reconnaissance or event mobile monitoring of remote areas. With their ability to fly quickly over long distances and record high-def video footage, drones are in one word – awesome.

This time round we ran into a new form of drone, one that was designed to allow you to dive under the waves and explore the seas, rivers or lakes. The PowerRay, developed by drone experts PowerVision was built with the avid angler in mind and can explore underwater to find fish.

Introduced earlier this year at CEO, the PowerRay features 4k Ultra high—def recording. Capable of diving as deep as 30 meters, it has an optional sonar system which can detect fish up to 40 meters below the robot.

Aside from that, that component also collects and sends footage of the underwater landscape and even temperature data. Users can also view the real-time position of the drone, select travel mode, speed, and light setting, and operate the integrated 4K UHD camera functions for underwater photography and videography through the PowerRay Mobile App.

Remember those times you’ve seen videos of angler jury-rigging remote controlled speedboats to drop off bait in the middle of the lake? Well, this drone also has an optional remotely operated precision remote bait drop!

This may just be the angler in me speaking, but all of this sounds fantastic. Unfortunately, the drone itself costs around US$2,000 on Amazon, even without any optional add-ons.

What’s in the PowerRay?
