During a signing ceremony witnessed by key government figures, AIMS Data Centre Sdn Bhd (AIMS) formally acquired approximately 10 acres of prime land from Cyberview Sdn Bhd, setting in motion a plan to build a massive RM4 billion data centre facility. As Malaysia’s largest homegrown operator, AIMS intends to utilize this Cyberjaya site to develop a 200MW AI-ready campus, a decisive move to strengthen the nation’s role as the premier digital infrastructure hub of Southeast Asia.
The upcoming facility, targeted for completion in 2027, will become AIMS’ newest flagship asset. It is being designed with a capacity of up to 200MW and will feature industry-leading energy and water efficiency metrics (PUE and WUE), underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainable, future-proof operations.
Speaking after signing the Sale and Purchase Agreement with Cyberview CEO Kamarul Ariffin Abdul Samad, AIMS CEO Chiew Kok Hin described the move as essential for anchoring the company’s footprint in Malaysia’s digital heartland. “Beyond adding capacity to fuel the strong demand, we are investing in nation-building, from creating jobs and upskilling local talent to enabling Malaysia to serve as the home base for global cloud service providers, fintech players and AI innovators,” Chiew said.
He added, “With the government pushing toward an AI Nation by 2030, such infrastructure investments are indispensable. AIMS’ expansion supports the national target of 30 percent of GDP coming from the digital economy by 2030 and helps provide the compute backbone for AI, cloud, IoT and data-driven industries.”
The event was witnessed by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo and MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil. Gobind lauded the initiative as proof that Malaysian companies can deliver world-class infrastructure. “This is the kind of nation-building investment that aligns perfectly with our vision of an AI Nation by 2030,” said Gobind. “Investments like this ensure Malaysia remains competitive, resilient and future-ready by building the digital foundations needed to scale AI, strengthen our industries and create high-value opportunities for the rakyat.”
Anuar Fariz Fadzil highlighted the collaborative nature of the success, stating, “This partnership is a strong demonstration of how the public and private sectors can work hand in hand to deliver infrastructure that not only attracts high-value foreign investment, but also empowers local talent and businesses to innovate, compete and thrive in the digital age.”
The project continues the momentum generated since DigitalBridge acquired a stake in AIMS in 2023. This partnership has already resulted in over RM2 billion invested into Malaysia’s digital build-up. Following the early completion of Cyberjaya Block 3 in July 2025, which raised AIMS’ capacity to over 100MW, this new acquisition reinforces the company’s prudent strategy of building according to demand.
“Cyberview welcomes AIMS’ continued expansion in Cyberjaya,” said Kamarul. “As Cyberjaya’s tech hub developer, we remain committed to building the right ecosystem components and infrastructure that enable high-impact investments like this, reinforcing Cyberjaya’s position as a city built for innovation.”
Chiew also expressed gratitude for the supportive regulatory environment provided by the Ministry of Digital, MIDA, Invest Selangor, and local councils. He noted that their clear policy direction and proactive support have been crucial in giving investors the confidence to continue expanding in Malaysia.
